Linux - unzipping multipart-spanned zip archives - .zip .z01 etc

I wanted to unzip a multipart-spanned zip archive in Debian Jessie 8.3.

There was 2 files, one .zip file and one .z01 file.

In Windows WinZip would have done it. But the graphical zip tools in Debian failed to do it.

It turned out this worked:

zip -FF --out

This created a new zip file, which could be unzipped as usual.
